Welcome to the music club! Our club is devoted to spreading music to all ages in our community. We believe that music greatly benefits children, whether it comes from listening, learning, or creating. From performing throughout Long Island to offering instructional lessons and activities, our members are eager to spread music around our community, as well as learn and collaborate with each other. Current Leaders

  • Oliver Wu, Co-President

    Oliver is in the class of 2025 at Ward Melville High School. He has studied piano with Rowena Arrieta for over a decade and has been playing violin since the age of 7, currently under Professor Lewis Kaplan. Oliver performs often at different musical events in his community, has played at festivals in Portugal and France, and has performed at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall four times. He plays in his school’s Chamber Orchestra and is an active member of his school’s Tri-M Honor Society and Bluegrass Club. Aside from music, Oliver is a passionate writer, enjoys baking, swims on the Three Village Swim Club, and is a part of his school’s Math Team.

  • Angelina Zhang, Co-President

    Angelina is in the class of 2026 at the Stony Brook School. International politics, specifically foreign policy, have always been one of her longtime interests. Besides global affairs, Angelina has a deep passion for her local community, working for Councilman Jonathan Kornreich, being on the Brookhaven Town Youth Board, and participating as the Director of Communications of the International Council at the Stony Brook School. Outside of academics, Angelina attends the Manhattan School of Music as a classical voice major, while also cantoring at weekly masses for her church. She is an active member of her school’s Tri M Music Honor Society, and is a NYSSMA Level VI vocalist and violinist, participating in both LISFA and SCMEA for violin. She is in the pre-professional division at New York Dance Theatre, having been a dancer for twelve years. She has played tennis since the age of six, and was the Co-Captain of the SBS JV Tennis Team in 2023. Angelina has received the PVSA Gold Award since 2020. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in the foreign service in order to work with world leaders to spread peace and diplomacy worldwide.

  • Mia Liu, Vice President

    Mia is in the class of 2026 at Ward Melville High School who has played piano for 8 years. In 2017, she won 3rd prize in the Vivo International Competition and has competed in numerous other competitions. She has been a classical piano major at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege for 3 years, and was named to the Dean’s List for 3 consecutive years. She was selected as one of two recipients of the Rosetta Goodkind Scholarship for the 2022-23 school year. Mia has also received a scholarship for the 2023-24 school year. In her spare time, Mia crochets and spends time with her friends. She has a strong interest in medicine, and hopes to pursue it in the future.

  • Luna Wang, Vice President

    Luna is currently in the class of 2027 at WMHS. She has been playing violin since 4th grade and is taught by Wendy Fogel. Luna is also a member of her school’s Chamber Orchestra and has participated in events such as LISFA. She frequently takes part in musical events around her community. Her other interests include ice skating, drawing, and reading.

  • Theresa Jiao, Co-Founder

    Theresa is a student at Stanford University. Her various interests include music and math. Theresa has played violin for 8 years and was a part of Tri-M Honor Society, NY All-State Symphony Orchestra, Ward Melville Chamber Orchestra, MYO Suffolk Principal Orchestra, CMU Summer Music Pre-College, LISFA and SCMEA. She was also the Stony Brook University Young Orchestral Artist. Theresa was the LISFA concertmaster for 4 years and was the SCMEA Concertmaster in 2020. She placed second in the MYO Concerto Competition Division I and Honorable Mention in the NYYPP Competition. Theresa has also received the gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for 3 years.

  • William Yao, Co-Founder

    William is a student at the Julliard School. He is a violinist and violist who has over a decade of experience in music. He previously studied at the Julliard School of Music Pre-College under the tutelage of Carol Rodland, and has studied under Patinka Kopec and Toby Appel. He was also a member of the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra. William was also in the Ward Melville Chamber Orchestra. Outside of music, William often volunteers in his local community. In the future, William hopes to pursue and major in music and leave a positive and lasting impact on the world.
