Science Olympiad Club
Our goal? To prepare students for Science Olympiad, as well as giving students resources and incentives to learn on their own!
We, the instructors, believe one can improve their SciOly practices by practicing, practicing, and practicing. Do past tests, review, repeat. Do, review, repeat.
We believe you’re not “born to do good at SciO”, you do good at SciO because you’ve put in time and practice.

Ziya Yin, President
Ziya, class of 2028, is a current student at Ward Melville. She found her passion for Science Olympiad through Ichthyology and has since then shifted to Air Trajectory, Experimental Design and Crimebusters; she and her team have advanced to the state level many times. Outside of Science Olympiad, Ziya also competes in competitions such as the AAAGSB art show and the Walt Whitman Poetry Contest, winning awards in both competitions. She mentors her peers in subjects such as biology and calculus and helps out at senior homes every month. In her free time, she enjoys messing with her cat, playing Roblox games, and taking lots and lots of naps.

Alexis Chan, President
Alexis is a sophomore from Ward Melville. I have over 20 medals from Science Olympiad, mostly from chemistry, biology, and the occasional random event that piqued my interest that year. I was the Overall Captain of the 2024-2025 season for RCM SCIO, as well as the 7th grade captain the year before. I love teaching, and have taught two years of Forensics at ScioVirtual to kids 4th through 12th grade. I was also the President of Tri-M music honors society, Treasurer of K-Club, and on the Chamber Ensemble board at WM. I love all things science, but in my free time, I love to run and read! I also love helping my community and tutoring, and have amassed roughly 200 hours
